Run organised for funds to enhance infrastructure in State government schools

The Chargebee Chennai Runs 2025 organised by Madras Round Table 1 (MRT1), began at Napier Bridge and ended at Island Grounds on Sunday. In its fourth annual fundraising edition, the event saw nearly 12,000 participants in the 3 km, 5 km, 10 km and half-marathon (21.1 km) categories, as well as inclusive runs. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin flagged off one of the segments and encouraged the participants. Actor and Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Funds raised through the run will be used for enhancing infrastructure in government schools across Tamil Nadu, including new classrooms, furniture, sanitation facilities, and CCTV systems at the MMA Government Higher Secondary School in Pallavaram. Srish Balakrishna, Chairman of MRT1, said the run was more than just a race – it was a movement to bring together fitness, community and purpose. “Each edition strengthens our commitment towards empowering the next generation through access to quality education,” he added. The event saw the participation of seasoned runners to first-timers from across the city. Chargebee was the title sponsor.
