SOUTH HADLEY — South Hadley girls soccer entered Monday's PVIAC Western Massachusetts Class B semifinal on a heater, and burned through Wahconah 6-0. The third-seeded Tigers had won their quarterfinal 4-0 and were similarly dominant once the No. 7 Warriors arrived fresh of their own upset of No. 2 Ludlow. South Hadley sets up a rematch of last year's Class B final against reigning champion and top-seeded Belchertown. Allison Fleury had a hat trick as the Tigers shut out their former rivals from the Kurty-Fielding League. Paetyn Tatro had 13 saves for the Warriors (11-5-2), who will await Saturday's bracket release for the MIAA Division IV State Tournament. State Vocational Tournament McCann Tech 4, Bristol County Agricultural 3 NORTH ADAMS — It took four different goal scorers and a 20-save outing by young goalie Bella Lefreve, but the Hornets survived and advanced in the Massachusetts State Vocational School Tournament. "We stepped up when he needed to and showed heart and teamwork throughout the game," wrote coach Lindsay Lincoln. "This win gives us great momentum and confidence as we head into the Vocational Tournament finals later this week. Our determination and heart is where it needs to be and I’m excited to watch this team accomplish goals this week." McCann (7-4-5) fell in the PVIAC Western Mass. Class C quarterfinals, before turning its attention to both the Vocational and the MIAA State Tournaments. The MIAA D-V bracket is due out Saturday. In the meantime, the Hornets are staying sharp and will travel up the street to take on Drury in a regular season finale Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Against Bristol County, Jordyn Lloyd netted a goal and an assist, with Shaylee Lawson, Zoe Kratz and Lainey Field all scoring. Chloe Cabana and Colbie Crouse had assists. It was Lloyd's 14th goal of the season. Non-Playoff Games Monument Mountain boys 4, Pittsfield 2 GREAT BARRINGTON — After falling out of the Class B bracket in respective tough quarterfinal losses, the Spartans and Generals met once more on the pitch Monday. Monument Mountain captured the win behind a Milo Potoski hat trick and moved to 2-0-1 vs. the Generals this fall. The Spartans also boosted their record back to .500 at 6-6-6. Potoski now has 12 goals on the year. Potoski opener the game with a goal in the 13th minute off a Jackson Nelson assist, but just before the half, PHS evened up through Kevin Campo with a helper from Renan Alves. We started off really flat but grew into the game more and more," wrote PHS coach Ryan Wanek. "Ended the final 10-15 of the first half really well and were rewarded with a goal heading into halftime. In the second half Monument capitalized on our mistakes and was able to extend their lead. I was proud of the boys' fight throughout the entire game even while down for a majority of it." Potoski grabbed the lead back just seven minute into the second half, and then netted his hat trick not long after in the 50th minute on an assist from Mason Whiteman. Pittsfield (6-11-2) got a goal from Bashiru Sowe, his eighth of the season, on a Dan Varon assist, but Whiteman scored himself before the Generals could find a path back to even. Drury boys 1, PVCICS 0 NORTH ADAMS — Lucas Hamilton's first varsity goal came at just the right time to deliver the Drury boys a victory over Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School on Monday in the regular season finale. Hamilton, a senior, knocked in a corner kick by classmate Rommel Alvarez in the 73rd minute to provd the difference. It was Alvarez's ninth assist. "It was a great way to end the careers for five seniors," wrote coach John Jacobbe. "Goalie Parker Rivard (shutout, eight saves) Brayden Canales and Matt Howland played lock-down defense and a goal for Lucas Hamilton and an assist from Alvarez." Drury finishes the season 3-11-2.
