Rory McIlroy’s strong run continues this week as he returns to the DP World Tour for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. McIlroy has been paired with Marco Penge and Tyrrell Hatton for the opening two rounds at Yas Links. He’s currently leading the Race to Dubai standings, with Penge and Hatton right behind him in second and third place. The event comes shortly after McIlroy helped Team Europe win the Ryder Cup on American soil, capping off what was already an impressive year on tour. His 2024 campaign included victories at both The Masters and The Players Championship, along with a memorable win at the Irish Open. Rory McIlroy rates his season out of 10 and states the event he wishes he won McIlroy was recently asked by Sky Sports Golf to rate his season on a scale of one to ten, and his answer reflected just how satisfied he was with what he’d accomplished. He said: “10 out of 10. It would have been nice to win The Open at Portrush but I can’t be greedy. Winning The Masters, winning an away Ryder Cup, winning my home open, winning the Players. It’s a 10.” The Northern Irishman recently returned to the DP World Tour for last month’s DP World India Championship, before taking a well-earned rest at home. He told Sky Sports: “I spent three days in Northern Ireland, which was lovely, and then I got back to Florida and I have been grinding away. I have been practising pretty much for the last 10 days coming into here.” “I know I am not going to have it all my own way the next couple of weeks but I am motivated to try and win another Race to Dubai so I knew I needed to come into these two weeks feeling ready and hopefully that practice over the last 10 days pays off.”
