ROOKE: Charlie Kirk’s Death Sparks New Calls For National Revival

Welcome back to Good Life, a newsletter about navigating our modern culture and staying sane in the process. This week, we discuss the horrible tragedy of Charlie Kirk and what our mission is now.

A couple of months ago, right before President Donald Trump’s inauguration, I warned you that we would be going through a spiritual and emotional battle of the likes we had never experienced before.

I wanted you to know that it was good to celebrate his win for our country and what it means for our future, but to prepare yourselves for the times ahead, because nothing we experienced under his first term or the Biden years would compare to what we would deal with over the next four years.

If anything, I undersold the emotional rollercoaster the left would put us on. The murder of Charlie Kirk has been a depressing realization of this. So where do we go from here?

I’ve been going back and forth through the many stages of grief, but I think where I am at (and where I’d like to stay for a while) is in the ‘demand action’ stage. I want what Charlie wanted for our country, a complete revival.

Yes, I want my political side to win and all of that. But there is a more important battle for us to be fighting right now. And that is for the soul of our nation.

Charlie’s biggest wish for all of those kids he’d talk to on college campuses is to have hope. He wanted them to see that their lives had meaning and that faith in God and a growing family would give them purpose.

He repeatedly told his audience to go to church, get married, and have children. This is the revival our country needs. I’ve written ad nauseam about the importance of motherhood and family. Being a mother is the greatest calling any woman could answer.

Most of the time, I hear sneers from the feminist class about how I am pigeonholing women into a lifestyle that not everyone wants. It’s not my position to force women into anything. However, I do know that my life didn’t truly start until the doctor laid our first daughter on my chest. One after the other, after the other, reignited the will to fight for them to have a better world.

This is what Charlie knew. You didn’t have to be best friends with him to see that he loved his wife and children. Being a father gave him purpose and a foundation to build a world worthy of their futures.

Our responsibility now is to push Charlie’s mission forward by going to the lost youth of our country, professing the truth of the cross, and giving them hope, not despair.

It’s going to take every single one of us to fill his shoes. That’s our reality.

Our children are not allowed to have cellphones. I’ve given my reasons for this in past editions of this newsletter. Not even our high school freshman has a phone. I say all this to explain that while she was using my phone to talk to her friends, I overheard a conversation they were having about Charlie Kirk and what they want for their futures.

“My ultimate goal in life is to get married, have kids, and go to heaven,” she told her friends.

This is a girl who is a straight-A student and an incredible athlete, boldly telling her friends that her goals are to live an ordered life. This is what Charlie fought and died for: to give our kids hope that this kind of life was still possible in our country.

If I could leave you with one request, it’s to please pray for the repose of Charlie Kirk’s soul and peace for his wife, Erika, and their two children.

WHAT I SAW THIS WEEK:

Over $5 million has been raised for Charlie Kirk’s family in a fund set up by ALP, the nicotine pouch company started by Daily Caller co-founders Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel. The two men wanted Erika not to have to worry. Tucker and Neil seeded the fund with $1 million, but every dollar after has come from supporters of Charlie Kirk. It has been extremely moving to see the support from everyone.

Please send any questions or comments about the newsletter to goodlife@dailycaller.com. While I can’t always respond, I do try to read them all! The community we are building is one of my favorite parts of this experience.
