There’s no love lost between Ronda Rousey and Joe Rogan. Rousey, 38, made that much clear in an appearance on the “Bertcast Podcast” with comedian Bert Kreischer — Rogan’s longtime friend. “He’s not an expert,” Rousey said of Rogan, 58, on the Wednesday, October 29 episode. “He’s a fan with an audience. He never fought.” Rousey added,”That’s not fighting,” when Kreischer brought up Rogan’s Taekwondo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu background. The topic arose when Kreischer asked what it would take for Rousey, who retired from MMA in 2016, to return to the octagon. After she playfully suggested a $1 billion payday, Kreischer suggested himself as an opponent. “I will beat the s*** out of you in your backyard for this house,” Rousey replied, prompting Kreischer’s Rogan suggestion. “Let’s go. … Right now. Now or never.” Rousey and Rogan’s feud dates back to the end of Rousey’s UFC career. Prior to that, the UFC commentator was complimentary of her, even one time saying she could beat half of the UFC men’s bantamweight roster. He changed his tune, however, after Rousey suffered defeats to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. “I shouldn’t have said it at the time,” Rogan said in a 2017 episode of his “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “Now it’s definitely not true. She could beat a few that aren’t good outside the sport. Look, if she gets guys on the ground, she could f*** a lot of people up. Her Judo is 100 percent legit, her armbars are amongst the best in the business, but people were always saying that. Thank god now that she’s lost everyone’s relaxed with that.” Rousey looked back on those comments in a 2024 appearance on “The Chris Cuomo Project” podcast. “It was really disappointing to see how happily everybody turned on me and how people like Joe Rogan, who were crying in the ring about the honor of being able to call my fights, people I considered friends in the media, so quickly turned on me,” she said. Rousey continued, “The MMA media hates me, it’s fine. Not a single person has called me or anything like that. They’ve all just doubled down and said that I’m making excuses or lying or blowing things out of proportion, or not giving credit where it’s due. No, I have not. I’ll be waiting for that call forever.” Who Is Your Favorite Current NBA Player? “I’m not waiting for it, and I get that they’re a bunch of a**holes,” she said. “That’s what I get. I get, ‘F*** you.’ At least I would rather not have those fake friendships in my life. I would rather that those people expose themselves, and I don’t leave myself open to them. I would rather cleanse myself of all those fake, superficial relationships than have them still around.” Rousey’s criticism isn’t limited to Rogan. Speaking to Kreischer, she called MMA fans and media, “the most ‘what have you done lately for us’ crowd of any sport.” “You look at WWE and they have such a reverence for their legends,” she explained. “In MMA, it’s like the second that you’re not on top, you’re not s*** and you never were s***. Chuck Liddell, when he’s on top, ‘He’s the best, he’s the best.’ The second that he loses, ‘Oh Chuck Liddell ain’t s***, he never was s***.”
