Ronda Rousey’s latest comments about Joe Rogan have put their one-sided feud back in the spotlight. During an interview with one of Rogan’s comedian friends, Rousey referred to him as “a fan with an audience,” which didn’t go unnoticed. This isn’t the first time Rousey has called out Rogan since stepping away from MMA in 2016. Last year, she singled out the long-time commentator while criticising MMA media and fans for how they reacted to her defeats against Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. The well-known podcaster once said that she could defeat half of the male bantamweight roster in the UFC. He even went as far as to suggest that she’d have a good chance against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. After Rousey lost twice in the UFC, Rogan walked back those comments. “I’m not happy that Ronda Rousey lost,” Rogan said on his podcast in February 2017. “But in a way, it makes things easier because there was a bunch of f—ing people going, ‘Oh yeah, what about Ronda Rousey?” And I made the mistake saying – hyperbole. I’m the master of hyperbole. I exaggerate all the time. I was like, ‘She could probably beat half the men bantamweights in the UFC.’ “That’s definitely not true. I shouldn’t have said it at the time. Now it’s definitely not true. She could beat a few that aren’t good outside the sport. “Look if she gets guys on the ground, she could f— a lot of people up.” “Her Judo is 100 percent legit, her armbars are amongst the best in business, but people were always saying that. “Thank god now that she’s lost everyone’s relaxed with that.” Ronda Rousey says the way UFC treats legends is why she left Before speaking out against Joe Rogan, Ronda Rousey had already voiced her frustration with MMA fans in an explicit rant that shed light on her issues with the sport. The 38-year-old believes that UFC legends are quickly forgotten and disrespected after a single loss. “MMA fans and media are the most what have you done lately for us crowd of any sport,” Rousey said. “You look at WWE, and they have such a reverence for their legends. In MMA, it’s like the second that you’re not on top, you’re not s—, and you never were s—.” She pointed to Chuck Liddell, ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, and Brock Lesnar as fighters who faced similar treatment once their unbeaten runs ended. Rousey continued: “I think the only reason why MMA fans have their lips so firmly planted at the base of Khabib’s c— is because he retired before he reached his limit. If he kept fighting until he reached his limit, everybody would be ‘Khabib ain’t s—, he never was s—’. “They’re like that with everybody. Name one person. ‘Brock [Lesnar] ain’t s—, he never was s—.’ Name one past champion that has the kind of respect that the current champions do. It’s really sad because I think it encourages people to get out while they’re peaking and leaving and taking all of that equity with them instead of passing it on to whoever’s next to take up the mantle.”
