Bengaluru: Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil, British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron, and Rolls-Royce Chief Financial Officer Helen McCabe jointly inaugurated the company’s newly expanded Global Capability and Innovation Centre in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The facility will play a key role in housing Rolls-Royce’s global digital capabilities and enterprise services team, along with engineering teams supporting both Civil Aerospace and Defence businesses.
A long-standing partnership with India
Speaking at the event, Minister Patil said Rolls-Royce has been one of the “oldest and trusted partners in the creation and growth of the aerospace ecosystem in India.”
He recalled the company’s long journey in India, from the licensed production of engines with HAL to supporting India’s armed forces, and later driving digital innovation and engineering excellence from Bengaluru.
“I congratulate Rolls-Royce on the inauguration of its Global Capability and Innovation Centre in Bengaluru, which will be home to a strong and talented team powering the company’s global businesses. The Government of Karnataka remains fully committed to supporting such initiatives through progressive policies, infrastructure development, and ease of doing business,” he said.
Rolls-Royce’s vision for India
Helen McCabe, CFO of Rolls-Royce plc, described India as significant to the company’s global journey of innovation and progress.
“This newly expanded Global Capability and Innovation Centre reaffirms our commitment to India and will be our largest capability hub. We look forward to continuing to strengthen local capabilities, developing talent, and deepening partnerships in the country,” McCabe said.
She added that as Rolls-Royce expands its footprint in India, the focus will remain on building a future-ready ecosystem to co-create solutions with teams and partners, while delivering greater value to customers in India and worldwide.
Strengthening Bengaluru’s aerospace ecosystem
The new centre is expected to further enhance Bengaluru’s reputation as a global aerospace and innovation hub. The city is already home to major aviation, defence, and technology companies, making it a natural choice for Rolls-Royce’s largest capability hub outside the UK.
Industry experts believe the expansion will not only generate new jobs in high-end technology and engineering but also encourage stronger collaborations with Indian academia and research institutions.
With this expansion, Rolls-Royce has reinforced its role as a key partner in India’s aerospace and defence journey, aligning with the country’s broader ambitions of becoming a global manufacturing and innovation powerhouse.
