Rohit Sharma Will Not Play....: Mumbai Indians' Source Confirms Former Captain's Future Before IPL 2026

Amid the rumours of Mumbai Indians (MI) trading Rohit Sharma to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a source has confirmed his future with the franchise. MI have never hinted about trading Rohit to KKR but social media was flooded with rumours about it. Rohit enjoys a good rapport with KKR's newly-appointed head coach, Abhishek Nayar. But the IPL legend isn't switching his team. "Rohit is not going anywhere and he will not play for any other side in the IPL," an MI source was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. Rohit first joined MI in the IPL 2011 mega-auction. He first got his big promotion after being appointed MI's captain in IPL 2013. Rohit ended MI's drought and led them to a title win in that season. Rohit-led defeated Chennai Super Kings again to win the IPL 2015 final. They registered a one-run win over Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2017 final to lift the title for the third time. He made his captaincy debut on a stand-in basis in 2019. MI won their fourth IPL title with a one-run win over Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2019 final. They became only the second team after CSK to win back-to-back IPL titles when they defeated Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 final. MI haven't played an IPL final since then. MI removed Rohit from captaincy before IPL 2024 and he has been playing under Hardik Pandya since then. Pandya was Rohit's deputy at Team India when he replaced him as the MI captain. Pandya looked set to become India's new T20I captain after the 2024 World Cup but that didn't happen. He played under Rohit at the 2024 T20 WC. Pandya now plays under Suryakumar Yadav in T20Is and leads the India T20I captain in IPL.
