Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli's Next Outing Delayed; Selectors To Not Pick Them For...: Report

Fans will have to wait longer to see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in action, as it has emerged that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee will not pick both the veteran stars in the squad for the upcoming 50-over assignment for the Men in Blue. With the two former captains only playing ODI cricket, having retired from other formats, there has been talk about them playing for the India-A side in order to get some game time. Currently, South Africa is on a shadow tour of India, which also includes three 50-over games. However, a report by Cricbuzz has revealed that Rohit and Virat are unlikely to be picked as the selectors have some plans for these fixtures. It is worth noting that the star batters did not feature in the three one-day games India A played against Australia A last month. The published information reveals that the squad for the three games will be named alongside the senior team's Test squad announcement for the two Test matches against South Africa. The three one-day fixtures will take place on November 13, 16, and 19 in Rajkot. Currently, a Rishabh Pant-led India-A team are playing South Africa-A in two four-day matches at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. When Will Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli Play Next? Rohit and Virat will now be seen in action on November 30 when India take on South Africa in the first ODI of a three-match series at Ranchi. Later, Raipur and Vishakhapatnam will host the second and third games of the series. Post that, the two will be seen in action in a three-match ODI series against New Zealand between January 11 and 18, which will be their last international assignment till the 2025 Indian Premier League. There have been reports that the duo could play in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, which will begin on December 24. Indian captain Shubman Gill also hinted at the same after the Australia series.
