Robin Hood star Lauren McQueen's life and where you have seen her before

Robin Hood has just hit the screens on MGM+ and the latest adaptation follows Rob (portrayed by Jack Patten) and Marian during their formative years. Before Rob became the legendary outlaw, he was a young 24 year old trying to navigate his path in life. Likewise, Marian is introduced as an innocent, inexperienced girl who matures into a woman who discovers her own voice. The role of Marian is played by Lauren McQueen, a 29 year old actress hailing from Liverpool, whose acting debut was in the BBC miniseries, Good Cop. Her career took off when she joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Lily Drinkwell in 2017 - a role which bagged her two British Soap Awards, reports the Express . Her character was embroiled in a relationship with Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson-Dwyer), and a self-harming storyline that originated from a car crash. The show collaborated with four charities - The Mix, Mind, NSPCC and Samaritans - on the distressing storyline, which further delved into group self-harm . The storyline clinched Best Storyline and Best Single Episode at the British Soap Awards 2018 and Lauren chose to exit the soap the following year to explore new ventures. Her character met a tragic end after her mental health deteriorated and she succumbed to sepsis following a self-harm relapse. Post Hollyoaks, she starred in Belgravia: The Next Chapter and Outlander: Blood of My Blood. She shared insights about her latest role in Robin Hood and her experience working with her co-stars, such as Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham. She expressed: "I was so excited to work with him. He brings that extra level to the show and the Sheriff. He is so down to earth and such a normal guy. "We had a nice conversation about Liverpool when we first met. He had done a TV show there, it was nice to relate to him in that way. I learnt so much from watching him on set." She revealed that Marian "came to her naturally" during some self-tapes, adding: "I was ready to put my own stamp on Marian." The star also lauded newcomer Jack Patten as Robin Hood, sharing: "From the moment that Jack and I met, we clicked. It was such a fun, final audition. It was clear to us both that we were right for the roles. It felt very exciting." Robin Hood is available to watch on MGM+.
