Rob Parker calls for Kyler Murray to quit football for baseball as Cardinals predicted to cut $230,500,000 QB in 2026

On Saturday's episode of "The Odd Couple" show, NFL journalist Rob Parker shared his honest thoughts on Kyler Murray's future with the Arizona Cardinals. According to him, the veteran quarterback should switch professions amid rumors of the team parting ways with him after this season."I got a different plan for Kyler Murray," Parker said (Timestamp-5:00). "Got your money. They're going to cut you, whatever. I would go play baseball. ... He's 28 and the Oakland A's? The Oakland A's have his rights. 28. You got our NFL money."This dude is the first player ever, you talking about the United States, ever, to be drafted in the first round in football and baseball. Nobody, no other athlete ever was able to do that. That tells you about his baseball skills."A year before being acquired as the first overall pick by the Cardinals, Murray was also drafted in the first round of the MLB draft by the Oakland Athletics. However, he decided to focus on playing in the NFL, while the Oakland A's retained his rights if he wished to return to baseball.Murray has been with the Cardinals since 2019. In 2022, he agreed to a five-year extension worth $230.5 million. However, he has led the team to the playoffs just once. This season, he once again started as the QB1 and helped the team to a 2-3 record.Unfortunately, Kyler Murray suffered an injury in Week 5 against the Titans. Since then, backup Jacoby Brissett has taken over as his replacement. In the past three games, he has tallied a 1-3 record. After last week's victory over the Cowboys, coach Jonathan Gannon decided to retain Jacoby Brissett as the QB1 of the team in Week 10. This has raised questions about Murray's future with the franchise, with the rumor mill churning about him being potentially cut next year.Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort gets real on Kyler Murray's futureAfter the victory over the Cowboys, Murray was placed on the IR list because of his foot injury. However, the team is not yet all in on Jacoby Brissett as their new QB1.According to GM Monti Ossenfort, the team will not make a decision on the quarterback battle until Kyler Murray is completely healthy."When we put a guy on IR, that's four weeks away," Ossenfort said while speaking with Arizona Sports on Friday. "A lot of things can happen between now and then. I think Jacoby has done a great job of leading our offense. We're expecting more of the same thing moving forward."But Jacoby's put himself in a good spot for where we're going offensively. When Kyler gets healthy, we'll assess when we get to that point."The Cardinals (3-5) will face the Seahawks (6-2) on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET. Can Jacoby Brissett lead the team to another win in Week 10?
