Rob Lowe to Star in NBC Secret-Service Drama The Detail

Rob Lowe is set to star in a drama series about the U.S. president’s Secret Service detail, which is currently in the works at NBC.
Titled “The Detail,” the project will follow elite agents serving on the president’s protective detail as they attempt to balance life with professional duty while securing the nation and defending against the next imminent threat, per the official logline.
Created by writer and executive producer Jennifer Yee McDevitt (“Over the Moon,” “Goodbye Vitamin,” “Task Force Two”), the project hails from UTV, a division of Universal Studio Group. Lowe will also serve as executive producer.
If “The Detail” is ordered to series, it would mark Lowe’s return to scripted broadcast TV following the conclusion of his five-season leading-man run on Fox’s “9-1-1: Lone Star” in February. At NBC specifically, the show would count as Lowe’s first time as a series regular on the network since “Parks and Recreation,” and his first NBC drama since Aaron Sorkin’s “The West Wing.”
In addition to “The Detail” at NBC, Lowe has a sitcom project in development at ABC called “The Ram,” which is said to be a “workplace romantic comedy in which Rob Lowe plays a daily sports talk show host who falls for the new producer brought in to boost his ratings.”
Currently, Lowe hosts and produces the Fox game show “The Floor” and is leading the fourth season of his hit interview podcast, “Literally! With Rob Lowe.” Next up, Lowe will star in the horror film “The Third Parent,” alongside Crispin Glover, as well as serving as producer. In addition, he just wrapped production on the indie dark comedy “The Musical,” alongside Tony Award winner Will Brill and Gillian Jacobs.
He is repped by WME, Brillstein and Latham & Watkins.
McDevitt is repped by Rise Management and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark.
