Udupi: Long-pending road repair work at Kela Parkala has finally commenced following repeated demands from the public.
MP directs immediate action
Udupi–Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary visited the site and instructed that the repair work begin immediately on Monday, September 15. The directives were supported by the MLA and the Deputy Commissioner, ensuring that the project moved forward without delay.
Asphalting and traffic management
On the first day, contractors started road asphalting near Kela Parkala. To facilitate the work, one-way traffic will be permitted from September 16. Vehicles traveling towards Karkala–Hebri–Shivamogga will be rerouted via Eshwarnagara–Saralebettu–Parkala Market, rejoining the National Highway at Parkala town.
Duration of work
The repair work at Parkala is scheduled to continue until September 22, during which only one-way vehicular movement will be allowed. Authorities have urged motorists to follow the temporary traffic arrangements to ensure safety and smooth progress of the road repairs.
