Former India cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu praised Rishabh Pant for his impressive return to international cricket following a life-threatening car accident, referring to him as “a phoenix that has risen from the ashes.” Pant is set to make his competitive cricket comeback as captain of India A in a four-day match against South Africa A on October 30 at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He is recovering from a fractured foot sustained during the Manchester Test earlier this year. Ahead of the India A vs South Africa A match, Sidhu lauded Pant’s fearless attitude, reminiscing about his match-winning performances in Australia and England, as well as his resilient return during the T20 World Cup in Nassau County last year. Sidhu stated on Star Sports, “Rishabh Pant is a phoenix that has risen from the ashes. No one imagined he could be up walking again after the accident. Look at his fearlessness and the extraordinary feats he has achieved. The way he has batted in Australia, the innings in Nassau County during the T20 World Cup, and the matches he won in England are remarkable. The attitude he carries defines Rishabh Pant. He is one of the finest cricketers I have ever seen. Watching him play is a joy. Rishabh Pant has taught everyone how to overcome adversities in life.” Pant returned to action with the 1st Unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A in Bengaluru on Thursday.
