Tributes have been paid to well known and much loved Callan figure John Donovan who sadly passed away on Wednesday evening. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sorrowing family, his sisters Tracey and Siobhán and his brother Jessie, nieces Lauren, Robyn and Isabel, nephews Stephen, Ryan, Ciarán and Ali, aunts Biddy and Teresa, uncles Mick and Jimmy, brother-in-law Jim, sister-in-law Teresa, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends, especially those in John Locke’s GAA Club. Over the past number of months, John has faced significant health challenges and in that time, well wishes have flooded in from people across the county with the local man a familiar and popular face on the streets of Kilkenny City and Callan. John was also known far and wide in GAA circles and was greatly proud of his native club John Lockes who will miss his presence on the line greatly. “A true genuine gentleman, his chats brightened up our day without fail. One of Kilkenny hurlings most fervent and informed supporters. A bed in heaven for you John,” one person wrote in tribute. “John will be missed a welcoming face around Kilkenny and always ready for a chat about hurling and always with glint in his eye. Ar dheis De go mbeidh a anam dilis,” another person added. – YOU CAN LEAVE A CONDOLENCE MESSAGE HERE FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS: Reposing at Molloy’s Funeral Home, Callan (Eircode R95 Y443) on Friday, September 26 from 4pm concluding with Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 7pm.
