Rincon de la Victoria unveils bold tourism strategy 2026–2029

Rincon de la Victoria isn’t just a pretty seaside town. In fact, the town is preparing for a digital and sustainable tourism revolution. Last week, the town hall hosted the XII Municipal Tourism Forum, where the spotlight was on the brand-new Strategic Tourism Plan 2026–2029, set to be developed by the University of Malaga (UMA). Planning for the next four years The plan aims to guide the municipality toward smarter and more sustainable tourism. Antonio José Martín, the town’s tourism councillor, highlighted the collaborative nature of the strategy. “We’ll be inviting local businesses and residents to share their opinions soon. Their input will be essential to create a participatory and effective plan that benefits everyone, tourists and locals alike,” he said. Mayor Francisco Salado echoed the sentiment: “These meetings help define the tourism model we want for Rincon de la Victoria. Everyone must be part of this shared project, improving the visitor experience and quality of life for residents at the same time.” Digital tools and competitiveness One of the key focuses is integrating new digital tools and platforms. The town plans to connect with the City Data Platform and the Smart Tourism Destinations platform from SEGITTUR. This tech upgrade isn’t just about flashy apps, it’s aimed at boosting competitiveness and giving visitors smoother, richer experiences. Looking beyond the town The forum also touched on other important initiatives, such as planning actions for the 2026 Annual Tourism Plan or to enhance professional training for tourism workers. Attendees also discussed participation in major travel fairs such as FITUR and WTM, ensuring that Rincon de la Victoria continues to shine on the national and international stages. Who was there? The meeting brought together hotel directors, golf course managers, representatives of merchant associations, and councillors covering beaches, commerce, and even political groups. The message was that Rincon de la Victoria will push to become smarter, more sustainable, and more competitive as a destination. Read here more news from Axarquia.
