For many years, Richard Osman's name was associated with a string of TV shows, with Pointless , Two Tribes, and House of Games among his best-known hits. But these days the star , 54, is enjoying just as much success with his murder mystery books. He started his series with The Thursday Murder Club in 2020, which followed a group of pensioners investigating a local death. It received much acclaim, and readers were gripped by the escapades of OAPs turned detectives Joyce, Elizabeth, Ron, and Ibrahim. 45,000 copies flew off the shelves in its first three days, and the book hit bestseller lists. Three other tales swiftly followed, with a fifth instalment about the amateur sleuths, The Impossible Fortune, released this week. This summer, the star's first book was even made into a movie , boasting big names like Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie among the cast, and with director Chris Columbus at the helm. It performed well for Netflix, with millions viewing it and the movie making it to the top of the streamer's most-watched films list in the UK. And while it evidently boosted viewing figures, it's likely it also boosted Richard's bank balance. Richard's income is thought to be primarily from his TV work, production credits on various programmes, and book deals. Estimates put his net worth at somewhere in the region of £3 million to £4 million. The star and his wife, Ingrid, live in Chiswick, a pricey part of London where homes can easily set you back millions. And every now and then, fans do get a tiny peek at the plush pad when Richard shares titbits from his life on Instagram. However, despite his bank balance, it seems the star isn't really one to flash the cash. Richard, who has two children with his first wife, recently addressed wealth on his The Rest is Entertainment podcast, as he weighed in on reports that Jeff Bezos's multi-day wedding to Lauren Sanchez this summer cost more than £30 million. He and podcast co-host Marina Hyde were discussing wealth when Richard revealed that he would do things differently if he were as rich as the Amazon founder. "You know what I am going to do? Nothing," he said. "I am going to stay in and watch Below Deck. I'm going to look after the people that I love, I'm going to have my mates around... I'm going to do nothing." Richard Osman is a guest on Saturday Kitchen Live, which airs at 10am on BBC One on Saturday September 27.
