Rev. Wengam urges doctrinal purity and fiery faith at Ashanti East Pastors’ Credential Review

About 600 pastors in the Ashanti East Region of Assemblies of God, Ghana have held their annual credential review session. The event held at Living Waters Assembly of God, in Kumasi was to appraise pastors and examine the health of the local churches. The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana Rev Stephen Yenusom Wengam intimated that the focus of the annual credential review has changed. The focus is now on spiritual renewal and impartation. Accordingly, Rev Wengam led a two- hour prayer session , touching on rededication , spiritual renewal, worship , thanksgiving, and impartation for the pastors. He subsequently preached a sermon on the church’s theme for 2026:”The Faith of Our Fathers.” Rev Wengam explained that the theme is in two folds-the call for doctrinal purity and the need to exemplify the audacious faith of the early Christians. He challenged pastors to emulate the “fiery faith of the ancient biblical fathers like Abraham, Noah, Daniel and Sarah .”Rev Wengam cautioned against the creeping in of false teachings and heresies. The General Superintendent announced that the 2026 World Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship will take place in Accra from the 12th to 14th October 2026. The global event will be the first of its kind to be held in Africa. Rev Wengam spoke of the immense economic and spiritual benefits the Congress will bring to Ghana and asked the entire Christian fraternity to partner Assemblies of God, Ghana to make it successful. The Ashanti East Regional Superintendent, Rev Emmanuel Gyasi commended the pastors in the region for their high performance over the past year. He , therefore , recommended to the General Superintendent to renew their credential for the 2026/2027 spiritual year. Rev Gyasi, however, said a few pastors’ performance was below expectation and might be sanctioned.
