It is not official open yet and the restoration have to travel some more distance, but residents are “helping themselves” to the walkway at the Sholinganallur lake that is in the final stage of a massive rehaul and rejuvenation. The lake located on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, opposite the Infosys office in Sholinganallur, is under Greater Chennai Corporation’s watch. The walkway is really lengthy and comes around the lake like a belt. Most walkers seem to have a ready number to describe how lengthy the walkway is; and they are largely agreed about the number — 1.5 kilometres.There is one section of the walkway where a wire fence is laid across the walkway: it is learnt that this is not aimed at keeping human feet away, but hooves. It has been placed to keep cattle from invading the space and nibbling away at the tender saplings lining all sides of the lake. There is an opening in the wire fence for walkers to pass through and continue their walk.
