A report on the death of Trecia Charles at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) following childbirth at the St Joseph Mercy Hospital will be submitted to the Medical Council of Guyana, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GPH Corporation Robbie Rambarran has said.
In an interview with Stabroek News, Rambarran explained that the case has been reviewed and a report would now be sent to the Medical Council. He disclosed that during the year, four patients in very critical condition were also transferred to the GPH from other facilities including one located on Sandy Babb Street, Georgetown. They all subsequently passed away. He added that files for those cases would also be submitted to the Medical Council.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that the obstetrician and gynaecologist who was the physician assigned to Charles, placed a retirement notice on his office door following her death.
