REPORT: Chris Grier & Mike McDaniel’s Jobs May Be Safe Beyond This Season

This gives weight to the original ESPN report that Grier and McDaniel may both be safe this year, no matter what Miami’s record is.

Last week at the home opener, yes, the home opener, fans threw in money to pay to have a banner fly over the stadium requesting Grier and McDaniel get fired.

This will likely be the norm for the rest of the season, until Stephen Ross takes action.

And if Stephen Ross does nothing, this will be the new norm at all home games in 2026 and beyond until that change happens.

Also, currently, there is a waiting list if you want to purchase Miami Dolphins season tickets, and I think that will go away rather quickly. If Grier and McDaniel are brought back after another disappointing season, many fans will bail on the product and spend their entertainment dollar elsewhere.

Chris Grier has been with the Dolphins for 25 years.

He has been the general manager for 9 years.

If you asked him to list all of the achievements he has had as general manager, he couldn’t because there are none.

No playoff wins, no division titles.

You see issues in the same position groups each year (offensive line and backup quarterback)

You have the worst secondary in the NFL, which he has a hand in creating.

Mike McDaniel, as head coach, is regressing, and the team’s performance is deteriorating year after year.

And the same mistakes are happening, such as being unable to win a challenge and being unable to get the plays in on time.

To the point where the starting quarterback is now, in a not-so-subtle way, calling out the head coach.

If Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is so detached from reality to think this infrastructure in place of general manager and head coach is on the right path and this is working, then Dolphins fans have bigger problems.

You can’t force a billionaire owner to do anything, or to sell the team, but this is beyond comprehension.

The Miami Dolphins organization is broken.

It is broken because Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel are bad at their jobs, and they shouldn’t be allowed to keep their jobs.

I know firing them now may not be the answer. But firing them in a month, or two months, or after the season should be an easy decision.

Through 25 years of ups and downs (mostly downs), Dolphins fans have shown up, spent good, hard-earned money, and in some cases traveled to support this team at home and on the road.

Not to mention a small army of Dolphins fans on social media every day attacks national reporters and media members who dare criticize the Dolphins in any way, no matter how fair or accurate the criticism may be, almost as if it’s their full-time job to defend the Dolphins’ honor.

The Dolphins fan base has been loyal beyond belief, and maybe to a fault, where they have been taken for granted by the organization.

No rational human can look at the last 25 years of support this organization has gotten from this fan base and say that Dolphins fans haven’t done their part.

Dolphins fans HAVE done their part.

Dolphins fans have gone above and beyond doing their part.

So now the question is: WHEN WILL THE DOLPHINS ORGANIZATION DO THEIR PART?

The fan base has held up their end of the bargain of this public trust; when will you (speaking to Mr. Ross) do your part?

Nobody gets enjoyment out of watching people get fired, but if you want fans to continue to support this product and your business, it needs to be done.

If this report ultimately ends up being true, it will not only be a very long season for Dolphins fans, but a very long and depressing offseason as well.
