Report: Giants Make Huge Kayvon Thibodeaux Decision Ahead of Trade Deadline

The New York Giants are currently 2-6 on the season, and there are growing rumors that the team may be one to watch as sellers at the trade deadline. One player that continues to be mentioned as a big trade chip is Kayvon Thibodeaux. The star pass rusher continues to be mentioned in trade talks, but it appears the Giants have made up their mind about the stalwart defender. He remains a viable pass rusher, and the Giants are likely not wanting to allow him to walk. The Giants picked up his fifth-year option, and it appears they have every intention of keeping him on the roster through 2026 and beyond. Even with the team not living up to expectations in 2025, they can prepare plenty for 2026. In just a short four and a half seasons, Thibodeaux has produced 23.5 sacks, which equates to an average of 21 sacks per the three full seasons he has played. The 2.5 sacks and the 2025 season have yet to be finished, but the fact remains that the young linebacker is a star. The Giants have also found some new confidence behind rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo. Unfortunately, Skattebo is out for the season after suffering a severe ankle injury, but he will return in 2026. The Giants have a lot to look forward to, and trading Thibodeaux right now would signal the team is resetting for 2026. Though that might still be the case, they are not going to allow their linebacker to play for another team. For more on the Giants, head to Newsweek Sports.
