MCL injuries are never good, and Pacheco might be sidelined for multiple weeks due to how severe the sprain is. Per adventpt.com, there are three grades of MCL sprains. Grade 1 would require a couple of weeks of recovery, Grade 2 would lead to a two to four week recovery, and Grade 3 would be up to 12 weeks of recovery. Should he require more than the two weeks, the Chiefs may look to place him on injured reserve, which would knock him out for at least four games. Pacheco had 58 yards on 12 carries before the injury occurred. The Chiefs have relied on a running back committee approach to the 2025 season, using Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, and Rashee Rice in certain situations. Pacheco has picked up 329 yards and one touchdown through the 2025 season thus far. Now, he will be sidelined for multiple weeks. This is terrible news for Pacheco, who missed multiple games in the 2024 season due to a fractured fibula. He wasn’t quite the same when he returned, and now he has to deal with an MCL sprain.
