Elected members will be updated on the progress of three major school estate projects across Renfrewshire at a meeting later this week. They will be briefed on the new Paisley Grammar School, the planned extension at Erskine's Park Mains High School and the new Thistle Primary School in Bishopton's Dargavel Village on Thursday. A report on the current phase of the learning estate programme will be presented at Renfrewshire Council's education and children's services policy board. The project to deliver a new Paisley Grammar in Renfrew Road remains "on track", according to the document, and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026. It explained: "The building’s internal features are progressing with science labs, ICT rooms and art rooms all at the point of fit out and fixed furniture implementation. "The formation of the external pitches is well underway and the artificial sports pitch is largely complete with lining now in place. "A recent visit took place involving the Paisley Grammar Parent Council and all associated primary school parent councils. This was a very positive visit which allowed understanding of the benefits that will be brought by the new school." The design process for the expansion at Park Mains in Barrhill Road is ongoing, with technical design said to be "nearing completion". The council added: "The contractor is commencing the market testing process where specific costings will be received to inform the final project cost. "Work is continuing to prepare for an advanced works package that will allow a prompt start on site for foundation works and full build preparation. "It is anticipated that this contract will be presented to the February finance, resources and customer services policy board. "Following the submission of the planning application in the summer of this year, the application remains on track to be determined at the November planning and climate change policy board. "The project remains on track to complete in the summer of 2027 with close monitoring and management being applied to these current stages of design and commercial agreement." Finally, the design process for Thistle Primary in Dargavel Village has "largely completed" and work continues to "finalise commercial and contractual arrangements" ahead of site commencement. The report said: "In September, a contract recommendation was approved to award Hub West Scotland with an advanced works package to begin the site preparation, foundations, and drainage works on the site. "Work continues to manage contract arrangements for this work and will finalise in the coming weeks in anticipation of the first formal construction activity commencing on site. "The project remains on track to complete in the summer of 2027 and updates will be provided to the upcoming board on the progress of construction as it formally commences."
