Renfrewshire's elected members are set to recognise the performance of a Paisley nursery in a recent inspection at a meeting later this week. Councillors are expected to note the strengths of Jennyswell Nursery at the education and children's services policy board on Thursday. It comes after the facility was graded good for both learning, teaching and assessment and securing children's progress by Education Scotland in August. A report, which will be considered at the board, said: "Children's services welcomes the process of audit undertaken by Education Scotland as supportive to continuous improvement in Renfrewshire's education establishments and approved funded provider settings. "The team at Jennyswell Nursery were positive about the inspection process and embraced it as a professional learning opportunity in partnership with colleagues at Education Scotland. "The report includes two areas for further improvement and progress in addressing this will be monitored by children's services officers through the quality improvement framework and flexible framework for early learning and childcare. "The inspection report will inform planned improvement activity and will enable the nursery to build on the recognised strengths and focus further development on areas for improvement to enable the nursery to continue to deliver a quality educational provision." A team of inspectors from the watchdog visited Jennyswell in June and talked to parents and carers and worked closely with management and staff. Staff were found to have created "positive and nurturing relationships" with children and families and a wide range of learning experiences were highlighted. They added the celebration of children's achievements and successes is building their confidence and pride in developing skills and talents. Two areas for improvement were identified which included continuing to develop approaches to planning and assessment and practitioners building on the quality of their interactions with children. Education Scotland is "confident" the setting has the capacity to continue to improve and so will not make any more visits in connection with this inspection. Members of the board will be asked to celebrate the nursery's "key strengths" and recognise the areas for further improvement outlined in the report.
