Renfrewshire councillors are set to celebrate an Erskine primary school this week after it received an impressive inspection report. Elected members are expected to note the strengths of Rashielea Primary School at the education and children's services policy board on Thursday. It comes after the school was graded very good across leadership of change; learning, teaching and assessment; ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion; and raising attainment and achievement in August. A report, which will be considered at the meeting, said: "The school team at Rashielea Primary School approached the inspection in a positive manner and embraced it as a professional learning opportunity in partnership with colleagues at Education Scotland. "The report includes one area for further improvement and progress in addressing this will be monitored by children's services staff through the quality improvement framework. "The inspection report will inform planned improvement activity and will enable the school to build on the recognised strengths and focus further development on areas for improvement to enable the school to continue to deliver a quality educational provision." A team of inspectors visited the facility in March and talked to parents, carers and children as well as working closely with the head teacher and staff. They praised the leadership of the head teacher and depute which "promotes inclusion and equity for all children" and said children, staff and parents have a "strong sense of belonging" as part of the 'Team Rashie' family. Teamwork among staff was highlighted while children were said to be "highly valued" as individuals and their talents celebrated. Outdoor learning is developing the problem-solving skills of children in an effective manner and links "very well" to learning across the curriculum. One area for improvement was identified which was that staff must continue to develop manageable approaches to evidence children's progress across the curriculum. Last month, Councillor Emma Rodden, board convener, said: "Rashielea's pupils are thriving, confident and independent learners and are very clearly proud of their school. "Staff work together to support their learning and have created a supportive nurturing environment where every child is valued. It's fantastic to see such positive outcomes through the school’s practice for the young people, the staff and the school community."
