Released WWE Star May be Preparing for Return

Former WWE star Dakota Kai is reportedly preparing for her return to professional wrestling. This news follows her release from the company in May of this year, which ended her second tenure with the promotion.
Since her departure, Kai has been largely inactive in the ring, instead choosing to connect with fans through her Twitch channel. On her streams, she has discussed her career and her eventual return to wrestling.
During a recent stream, Kai spoke about her time away from the business. She expressed that while she misses competing, the break has been beneficial.
“I miss wrestling, you guys! I got to get back into it. It’s just one of those things where it has been nice to have a little bit of a break. I have been doing it for a long time. Longer than the last seven years that I was in WWE. You know what I mean? It is nice to take a step back for a while, but I really do miss it.”

A recent report from Fightful Select has added to the speculation about her comeback. During a Q&A session, it was reported that Kai has had new ring gear made, a strong indication that she is planning her in-ring return soon. The report also noted that a run in Japan could be a possibility for her.
Kai has previous experience wrestling in Japan, having completed a tour with World Wonder Ring Stardom in late 2015. During that time, she captured the Artist of Stardom Championship. Many fans have also expressed a desire to see her join All Elite Wrestling for potential first-time matches against stars like Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander.
Kai was part of a group of talent released on May 2, 2025, which included Braun Strowman, Cora Jade, and Gigi Dolin. While Strowman has pursued acting, others like Cora Jade and Mara Sade (formerly Jakara Jackson) have been active in TNA and on the independent circuit.
