As part of the 8th Graduation Ceremony activities at the Regional Maritime University (RMU), a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Samana HR Ghana and RMU in collaboration with the National Association for Heavy-Duty Equipment Operators Ghana (NAHEOG).
The agreement seeks to enhance employment opportunities for RMU graduates by connecting them with ready job markets both locally and internationally, particularly in the oil, gas, and maritime sectors.
About the Regional Maritime University
RMU is an internationally recognized institution that has been training individuals for the maritime, oil, and gas industries for over 60 years. The university offers both undergraduate and diploma programs, with a strong focus on practical skills and professional training.
Dr Jethro Wilbert Brooks Jnr, Acting Vice-Chancellor of RMU, emphasized the purpose of the collaboration:
“The University’s core mandate is education and training. Maritime education is allied to numerous skill-based courses. For over six decades, we have been equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the industry. Through this MOU, our graduates, particularly those from skill training programs such as FK Training, will have the opportunity to gain employment and valuable work experience immediately after graduation.”
Samana HR Ghana’s Commitment
Ahmed Naaman (Nana), the Director of Samana HR Ghana, outlined the company’s role in the partnership “Samana HR Ghana is mandated to provide skilled personnel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, our major market. By signing this MOU with RMU, we aim to provide job-ready graduates for employment in the oil and gas sector abroad. Furthermore, we will work closely with the university to certify and train operators, ensuring they meet the required standards before traveling for employment.”
Naaman continued, Following this agreement, we will identify eligible candidates and begin recruiting by category, focusing solely on graduates with the requisite skills and certifications, as verified by the university.”
Collaboration Goals
The MOU establishes a framework to:
Absorb RMU graduates into the workforce immediately after graduation.
Provide certification and training for operators in partnership with RMU.
Deliver skilled personnel to international markets, particularly in Saudi Arabia, for oil and gas employment.
Ensure graduates are job-ready and meet international standards.
This partnership between RMU, Samana HR Ghana, and NAHEOG demonstrates a strong commitment to bridging the gap between education and industry, ensuring graduates gain practical experience, certification, and access to international employment opportunities immediately upon completing their programs.
