Red warning takes effect for Donegal and tens of thousands are now without power as Storm Amy moves in

Dublin Simon’s 42nd Annual Home Run rescheduled for Saturday

Dublin Simon Community has announced that its flagship Home Run event will go ahead on Saturday, October 11, at 9:30am in the Phoenix Park. This follows the charity taking the decision to postpone the event due to health and safety concerns surrounding Storm Amy.

Catherine Kenny, CEO of Dublin Simon Community, said: “While it was unfortunate that we had to postpone our Home Run event due to the weather warning in place on its original date, we are confident that it was the right decision in light of health and safety precautions. We are delighted to be able to proceed with the Home Run on Saturday, the 11th, just a week out from the original date. “This rapid rescheduling is a testament to the flexibility of our sponsors, partners and suppliers. We are incredibly grateful to them for allowing us to push forward with the 42nd annual Home Run and deliver what is one of the most beloved events in the Dublin Simon calendar.”

“While we were able to postpone our event and advise participants to take shelter, we must remember that for those on the streets there is no respite from the elements. With winter on the horizon, these conditions will get worse, making life even more difficult for those sleeping rough. Our teams provide vital support for those facing homelessness. Please consider joining us for our Home Run to help us raise the funds to assist those facing these unimaginable hardships.”

For those who cannot attend the rescheduled event, they will be able to apply for a refund. There will also be an option to donate this fee directly to Dublin Simon Community. The charity will contact participants by email next week, outlining how to apply for a refund or make a donation.
