Since 2015, New York has made the playoffs nine times but has only topped the division three times in 2019, 2022, and 2024. And every other time, they’ve had to sneak in through the Wild Card! And this year’s no different, too!
After knocking out the Red Sox in the Wild Card game, the Yankees moved on to face the Blue Jays in the ALDS. But things have gone downhill fast. They got blown out 10–1 in Game 1 and are now trailing 13–7 in Game 2. And that was enough fuel for Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy to take a jab at the Yankees amid Aaron Judge’s less flattering records getting highlighted this postseason.
“But the Yankees will always have wild card celly.” Portnoy shared this caption with a champagne celebration of the Yankees post their Wild Card series win against the Red Sox.
