…as Campus France deepens educational options with Study-in-France confab Ibraheem Abdul, the rector of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), has emphasised the importance of international collaboration in driving student development. Abdul made the call at the Campus France Nigeria and the Embassy of France in Nigeria insightful conference on study opportunities in France, hosted by the School of Art, Design and Printing at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), recently. He reiterated the need for global partnerships, stressing that would exposure students to diverse learning environments and cross-border opportunities that can significantly enhance their skills, confidence, and competitiveness in today’s interconnected world. The rector applauded Campus France Nigeria for providing an effective platform that connects Nigerian students to global educational opportunities. Oumou Diakité-Simon, deputy head of the Africa Unit at Campus France, in her keynote address outlined the agency’s mission and services. Diakité-Simon highlighted Campus France’s support to students throughout their application process, from program selection and document preparation to the use of the Études en France (EEF) platform and visa procedures. She also emphasised scholarship opportunities and encouraged students to take advantage of the rich academic and cultural experience France offers. Representatives from participating French universities presented their institutions, programs, and admission requirements, followed by an interactive question and answer session. Students raised questions about tuition, scholarships, housing, and part-time job options. Both Diakité-Simon and David Owonikoko, Campus France Nigeria’s Lagos representative, provided practical guidance and advice. The event drew a large audience of about 450 participants, including students, academic staff, and French university delegates, highlighting the growing academic partnership between Nigeria and France. The day began with a guided tour of the Yabatech Art Gallery, where delegates were introduced to an impressive collection of works created by students and professional artists. Art students served as tour guides, explaining the significance of the various pieces. The visiting delegates expressed admiration for the creativity and artistic vision on display, commending the school’s commitment to nurturing artistic excellence and cultural expression. The session was livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook to accommodate wider participation. In his remarks, the Students Union President expressed appreciation to Campus France Nigeria for organising such an inspiring event, thanking the team for bringing French educational opportunities closer to Nigerian students. The Yabatech conference reflects Campus France Nigeria’s commitment to promoting French higher education and strengthening academic and cultural exchanges between France and Nigeria.
