Reconciliation reaches between Ghazni families

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A 15-month-old feud between two families has been resolved in Gilan district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Monday.

Maulvi Jan Mohammad Momin, head of the Borders, Tribes and Tribal Affairs department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that about 15 months ago, a verbal dispute between two families in Aghujan village of Gilan turned into a physical clash, leaving one person dead.

He said late yesterday, with the mediation of tribal elders and officials, reconciliation reached between the two families.

According to him, both sides agreed in a jirga that the family of the killer would pay 1.8 million afghanis in blood money to the deceased’s family.

Momin added that the decision was accepted by both parties, who then forgave each other.

A mediator and tribal elder, Faizullah, said the conflict had disrupted the lives of both families for about one and a half years, and neither side could live peacefully in their areas.

He said from now on, both families would live under the spirit of peace and brotherhood and would support each other in good deeds.

Religious scholar Mullah Abdul Alim told the jirga that unity and harmony protected society from misfortunes, reduced divisions and hatred, and created an environment of friendship and cooperation.

He said unity and harmony were the keys to a community’s success, and real progress could only be achieved when there was solidarity.

Mirjan, a member of one of the families, said they had spent about one and a half years in disputes, and now they were happy reconciliation had been achieved.

He promised that they would never again try to harm each other and would live forever in an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood.

It is worth mentioning that some time ago, a two-year-long feud between two nomadic families of the Niazi tribe in Deh Yak district of Ghazni was also turned into friendship.
