Donald Trump is set to visit the hospital on Friday for a health check-up, as announced by the White House. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed in a statement that the President would “stop by” Walter Reed Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland, for his “routine yearly health check”. Since his re-election in January, there have been ongoing concerns about the ageing President’s health. He has a noticeable discolouration on his right hand, which he attributes to bruising from excessive handshaking. A conspicuous patch of white makeup often covers this bruise. In recent months, Trump has had several spells where he disappears from public view for days on end. Observers have also pointed out a “drooping” on one side of the President’s mouth, especially during prolonged events, reports the Mirror . Previously, Ms Leavitt was questioned about how the President is managing the chronic venous insufficiency diagnosed in July. She was also asked if Trump’s doctor would be available to discuss his conditionreports the Mirror . To this, Ms Leavitt responded: “I don’t want to make that commitment on behalf of the physician, but it’s certainly something we can look into and explore out of the effort of transparency, because unlike the previous White House, there is nothing to hide.” She assured that the President is under constant observation, “literally 24/7 all of the time”, and promised to seek an answer. However, when pressed for more details about his treatment, she did not provide a direct response. “Look, you see the President every day,” she stated. “He’s moving, he’s working. There have been no adjustments made to his lifestyle.” Today, Ms Leavitt announced: “On Friday morning, President Trump will visit Walter Reed Medical Center for a planned meeting and remarks with the troops. While there, President Trump will stop by for his routine yearly check up. He will then return to the White House. President Trump is considering going to the Middle East shortly thereafter.” For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here .
