Real life impact of peace programs comes to life in DSWD’s photo exhibit ‘Larawan ng Pagbabago’

Stories of families and communities once affected by armed conflict and who are now reaping the dividends of the government’s peace and development efforts take the spotlight as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) unveils on Monday (September 15) the “Larawan ng Pagbabago” photo exhibit to mark the Peace Consciousness Month.

Undersecretary Alan Tanjusay of the DSWD’s Peace and Development Group (PDG) led the ribbon cutting ceremony at the DSWD Central Office where he explained that the exhibit puts a human face on the impact of the Department’s peacebuilding efforts. The DSWD is the lead in social protection and among the implementers of the PAMANA (PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn) — the flagship peace and development program of the national government.

Alongside the exhibit, a “KaPEACEtahan” bazaar was also opened, boasting products made by Sustainable Livelihood Program – PAMANA beneficiaries. The bazaar seeks to connect beneficiaries with livelihood opportunities while fostering a culture of peace and social cohesion.

Joining Undersecretary Tanjusay in the ribbon cutting ceremony were Peace and Development – Buong Bansa Mapayapa (PDBBM) National Program Manager Miramel Garcia-Laxa; Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe, Undersecretary Adonis Sulit, Undersecretary Denise Bernos-Bragas Evelyn Aribon; Assistant Secretary Gina Wenceslao; Asst. Secretary Paul Ledesma, and Asst. Secretary Marites Maristela. (LSJ)
