For information on submitting an obituary, please contact Reading Eagle by phone at 610-371-5018, or email at obituaries@readingeagle.com or fax at 610-371-5193.
Most obituaries published in the Reading Eagle are submitted through funeral homes and cremation services, but we will accept submissions from families. Obituaries can be emailed to obituaries@readingeagle.com.
In addition to the text of the obituary, any photographs that you wish to include can be attached to this email. Please put the text of the obituary in a Word document, a Google document or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service that is in charge of the deceased’s care or a photo of his/her death certificate. We also request that your full name, phone number and address are all included in this email.
All payments by families must be made with a credit card. We will send a proof of the completed obituary before we require payment. The obituary cannot run, however, until we receive payment in full.
Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to its running for it to be published.
Please call the obituary desk, at 610-371-5018, for information on pricing.

Fleetwood Area School District
On behalf of the Fleetwood Area School District, I extend a warm welcome back to school to our own students, families and staff as well as to the more than 70,000 students across Berks County.
Each new year brings renewed energy, fresh opportunities and the promise of growth. This excitement is made possible through the ongoing support of families, staff, and community members who work together to create safe, nurturing environments where students can thrive.
This support is not taken for granted. Our success as a school district is directly tied to the encouragement and involvement we receive from those around us. Therefore, we take this opportunity to thank everyone who plays a role in fostering the development of the children entrusted to our care. Whether attending events, volunteering, mentoring,or simply offering a kind word, every action makes a difference.
The saying “It takes a village to raise a child” could not be more fitting. This powerful idea reminds us that raising and educating our youth requires shared responsibility. It takes the collective efforts of families, educators, community members and local organizations to provide the safe, supportive environment our children need to grow, learn and ultimately thrive.
Here in Fleetwood, we are fortunate to see this philosophy in action every day. From youth programs and athletic leagues to service clubs and school partnerships, the collaboration between our district and community is exceptional. A child’s development is best nurtured through the combined efforts of the family, the school system and the surrounding community, and our students are lucky to benefit from such a strong, united support system.
Across Berks County, there are countless examples of community pride and connection. In Fleetwood, our annual Homecoming Weekend stands out as a shining example. The outpouring of community spirit during the parade is truly something to behold. Watching residents line the streets in support of our students, athletes, clubs and organizations is a reminder of the strong bonds that connect us all. Events like these highlight the pride and unity that define our communities.
As we begin this school year, we do so with gratitude for what we have built together and excitement for what lies ahead. To every parent, guardian, volunteer, coach, mentor, neighbor and friend throughout Berks County, thank you for all you do to support the students. Your involvement is helping to shape a bright future for our more than 70,000 students.
It is this collective care and commitment that make this area such a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.
Together, let us make the 2025–2026 school year one of the best yet!
