Recently, Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced that the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will hold board exams biannually from the next academic session. While the first examination will be mandatory for all students, the second one will be optional, allowing regular and supplementary students to improve their scores by appearing for up to three subjects. The new rule will offer an extra opportunity for students to improve their scores in up to three subjects. The exams will be conducted based on the prescribed syllabus, and the authorities will consider the best of the three scores to prepare the final result. The Rajasthan Education Minister posted on the official X account, stating, “Both examinations will be based on the entire syllabus, and the best scores of the students will be considered in the final result. This arrangement will prove to be a meaningful step towards more opportunities for students, reduced exam stress, and better results.” As per media reports, RBSE will conduct the first session in February–March, and the second session in May–June. CBSE to Hold Class 10 Exams Twice a Year Apart from RBSE, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that Class 10 exams will also be held twice a year. CBSE has allowed students to appear for the second term to improve their scores in three subjects. Additionally, those placed in the compartment category can reappear in the second-term exam under the same category to improve their performance. Following the new pattern, the Class 10 first-phase exam will be conducted in February, and the second phase will be held in May. It is mandatory for all students to appear in the first board exam in February 2026. The second phase scheduled in May will be optional for students who wish to improve their performance. The best score will be retained in the marksheet. Students will be able to enhance their performance in up to three subjects — Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages. For students enrolled in winter-bound schools, the board has provided flexibility to take the exams in either phase. The internal assessment will continue to be conducted only once per academic year.
