Ravi Mohan Breaks Silence On Bro Code Legal Battle, Claims Beverage Brand Wanted Promotion Deal

Ravi Mohan has finally opened up about the legal fight over his film Bro Code. The actor-producer says things turned sour with the makers of the alcoholic drink Bro Code after he refused to feature their brand in his movie. His reaction comes just days after the Delhi High Court stopped him from using the title, even though the Madras High Court had earlier ruled in his favour. The controversy began when Ravi Mohan’s studio announced Bro Code as the title for an upcoming film. While the Madras High Court had previously granted temporary relief to Mohan’s production house, allowing them to retain rights to the title, the Delhi High Court has since issued an order prohibiting its use. Ravi Mohan issues statement In a press note issued by his team, Mohan claimed the dispute began after he refused to integrate brand promotion for Bro Code beverages within his film. The statement reads: “RaviMohan studios registered its copyright BroCode Title for its script and its artistic work in the Entertainment category. #BroCode beverages team have asked RaviMohan to promote their brand in the film. RaviMohan refused it, as it would set a wrong example.” He further alleged that following his refusal, the beverage company took legal action in Delhi while avoiding a direct challenge to the earlier Madras High Court order. “So the beverage company has registered a case at Delhi against this Title and not challenged the Madras High Court verdict so far. Madras High Court continues to uphold @RaviMohanStudio’s rights over the title #BroCode, restraining Delhi Indo Beverages. Interim order extended till 21 Nov 2025.” Concluding his statement, Mohan suggested that the beverage brand’s latest actions were driven by marketing motives. “Also, the beverage company is planning to launch their brand in TN, so they have started this publicity stunt to push the brand in TN.” Delhi HC Bars Use of ‘Bro Code’ for Film Promotions The Delhi High Court passed an injunction order restraining Ravi Mohan Studios from using, publishing, or promoting the title Bro Code in any form. The order was issued in a trademark infringement case filed by Indospirit Beverages, which owns the BroCode mark used for its alcoholic and ready-to-drink beverages. The court noted that BroCode beverages were “widely known” and that the name was strongly linked to the company’s products. It further observed that the proposed film title was identical to the registered trademark and could potentially mislead consumers. The bench rejected the studio’s argument that the Madras High Court had previously ruled in its favour based on “groundless threats.” The Delhi HC clarified that once an infringement suit is filed, a pending threat suit does not prevent the grant of an injunction. As per the October 14, 2025 order, the studio must refrain from using or promoting the title until the case is resolved. Madras HC’s Interim Protection for Ravi Mohan Earlier this month, the Madras High Court had granted temporary relief to Ravi Mohan Studios in the same dispute. The court barred Indobevs from issuing copyright infringement threats against the production team. The interim order, valid for three weeks, also directed that notice be served to Indobevs. If the company failed to acknowledge it, the court noted that the temporary protection could be extended further. Ravi Mohan had approached the Madras HC seeking a permanent injunction to prevent interference with his film’s production and marketing, arguing that the use of Bro Code as a film title did not infringe the beverage company’s trademark. About Ravi Mohan’s Upcoming Projects Ravi Mohan, who was last seen sharing screen space with Nithya Menen in Kadhalika Neramillai, is all set to step behind the camera for the first time with his directorial debut, An Ordinary Man, starring Yogi Babu in the lead. Alongside that, he’s also producing and acting in Bro Code, directed by Karthik Yogi. The film boasts an ensemble cast including SJ Suryah, Arjun Ashokan, Upendra, Shraddha Srinath, Gouri Priya, Malavika Manoj, and Aishwarya Raj. Both projects are backed by his home banner, Ravi Mohan Studios.
