The Baltimore Ravens suffered two high-scoring defeats in the first three weeks of the season.
In the most recent of those defeats, a 38-30 loss to the Detroit Lions on “Monday Night Football,” the Ravens allowed the Lions to outgain them 426-318 in total yards. Baltimore’s defense couldn’t stop the run or pass, resulting in another frustrating defeat.
Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN, Baltimore made NFL history, becoming the first team with a losing record to score 111 points through three games.

The Ravens lost their season opener to the Buffalo Bills 41-40 in a gut-wrenching collapse before dominating the Cleveland Browns 41-17 in Week 2.
Following Monday’s game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was critical of the defense, saying the 224 rushing yards given up to the Lions were unacceptable.
“There’s nobody in that locker room that thinks that’s good enough,” Harbaugh said, via Ryan Mink of the Ravens’ website. “That’s disappointing. That’s bad run defense, and that’s not who we are. It cannot be who we are. It’s not going to be acceptable, and it has to be better.”
Harbaugh was unhappy with the pass rush, which registered zero sacks of quarterback Jared Goff despite bringing five and six-man rushes. Nothing helped the Ravens defense on Monday night, not even long fields. The Lions scored touchdowns on drives of 96 and 98 yards.
The Ravens have another big test upcoming for the defense. They will travel to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in Week 4.
