Ravel Morrison ignored sub request and 'f***ed off home' during Man Utd game

Paul Scholes has recalled an occasion when Ravel Morrison was on the subs bench for Manchester United 's reverses and, despite being told to warm-up, headed down the tunnel and "f***ed off home". Scholes was in the midst of getting coaching experience and was alongside Warren Joyce as he took a set of United players to Altrincham. Morrison was hailed as a generational talent coming through the youth ranks and was tipped for big things. Despite his obvious quality his attitude was cited as an issue and, clearly disgruntled about being left on the bench for so long, he snubbed a request to get ready to come on and opted to instead leave. Morrison never made Joyce or Scholes aware so they planned to bring him on, only to find he wasn't there with Scholes admitting he was a tough player to manage and was capable of going AWOL. He told The Good, The Bad, The Football podcast : "Remember Ravel Morrison - We we're playing a reverse game when I was doing a bit of coaching under Warren Joyce. We played at Altrincham and Ravel was sub. We'd made all but one sub so we told Ravel to warm-up. "At Altrincham the dugouts and where you warm-up is where the tunnel is. So we're looking for him 'Ravel, time to come on'. Not there. He'd gone down the tunnel, got changed and f***ed off home." Pressed further on why he chose to leave Scholes suggested that maybe it was because he was the last player to come on. "Don't know, he was the last sub," he said. "Warren went mad obviously but Ravel was like he could just disappear. He wouldn't coem in to training for two weeks and you'd go find him playing 5-a-side with his mates. Look he had issues, but what a talent and he's just f***ed off." Morrison would play just three times for United, none of which came in the Premier League , before moving on to West Ham . There he had a brief stint whereby he began to realise his potential, but it was short-lived. He had loan spells at the likes of Birmingham and QPR before his nomadic, globe-trotting career really took off. Now 32, Morrison has played in Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA. Currently he's calling the second tier in Dubai home. Rio Ferdinand previously claimed: "Look at Ravel Morrison. This guy was the best young kid that I've ever seen in my life. Better than Joe Cole was when he was a kid. Ravel Morrison, I've never seen a guy look so comfortable on a football pitch, but you can't just have one of them without the other, you've got to have everything."
