EXCLUSIVE: Rashad Raisani, co-creator, executive producer and showrunner on 9-1-1: Nashville, which premieres tonight, Oct. 9, has signed a new overall deal with the studio behind the latest 9-1-1 spinoff, 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios. Under the pact, he will continue to write, develop and produce series for all linear networks and streamers, with an emphasis on platforms across Disney Entertainment Television.
Raisani has been under overall deals at 20th TV for the past eight years, serving as executive producer and co-showrunner on 9-1-1: Lone Star for its five-season run before he segued to Nashville. Raisani also spent three seasons on the mothership 9-1-1, including one as an executive producer. With the new pact, his tenure at the studio will cross the 10-year mark.
“Rashad has been a powerful part of the fabric and success of the 9-1-1 franchise for well over 100 episodes, and brings his signature edge-of-your seat storytelling, wild imagination and unbelievable heart to everything he puts on the page,” said Karey Burke, President of 20th Television. “He’s an incredible creative force, and we are so lucky to have him in the studio family for years to come.”
In addition to the 9-1-1 franchise, at 20th Television Raisani also worked on the drama The Gifted.
“I’m thrilled to build on a decade of collaboration with Eric [Schrier], Karey, Carolyn [Cassidy] and Jane [Francis], and their incredible teams on projects we are all passionate about,” said Raisani. “I’m so grateful for their support and could not ask for better creative partners.”
Raisani, who began his career on USA’s long-running drama series Burn Notice, rising from staff writer to co-executive producer, is repped by UTA and The Shuman Co.
9-1-1: Nashville, which Raisani co-created with the 9-1-1 franchise architects Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, is described as a high-octane procedural about heroic first responders, as well as their family saga of power and glamour set in one of America’s most diverse and dynamic cities. It stars Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Hailey Kilgore, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz and Hunter McVey.
