Rangers Want Mujaid Sadick to Fix Defensive Issue Hampering Danny Rohl

Rangers are set to back Danny Rohl in the January transfer window and are preparing to make their move for Genk defender Mujaid Sadick. Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that the Gers have "shown interest" in Sadick and that inquiries have been made to the Belgian Pro League club regarding a possible transfer. He appears to be on the Scottish Premiership giants' wishlist as the higher-ups look to turn a dismal season around. Rohl has seen just how much work there is to do at Ibrox after replacing Russell Martin in October and his defence is an area of particular concern. Disappointing performances from John Souttar, who is out of contract next summer, and Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Nasser Djiga have highlighted a need to strengthen at the back. Rangers Eyeing Sadick Deal Tavolieri claims a potential move for Sadick could take place in the "upcoming transfer windows," but given Rangers' need for improvement on the defensive front, it may well be on the agenda this winter. He is a Spanish centre-back with a strong build, a six-foot frame, and a comfortable touch in possession. The 25-year-old has been with Genk since the summer of 2021, arriving from Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna and establishing himself as a regular. He has just over two years on his contract, so there is no chance of the Gers striking a bargain deal. Souttar's future could be key in pursuing the Spaniard, as the 28-year-old's deal is up in June 2026, and there have been no indications of talks over an extension. Should he leave next summer, he wouldn't do so alone, as Djiga is also departing once his loan expires, as there is no buy option or obligation available to the Scottish club.
