Ramu Valley Secondary School in Madang is marking a historic year, celebrating PNG’s 50th Golden Jubilee while preparing to graduate its first Grade 12 cohort in 2025. The school is renowned for its strong Grade 10 performance and has become a beacon of academic excellence in the region.
School Board Chairman, Tonny Tawelo, reflected on the milestone and encouraged students to consider their contributions to the nation. “What will your contribution be? Will you be the doctor who heals, the engineer who builds, the farmer who feeds, the artist who inspires, the entrepreneur who employs, the leader who serves with integrity?” Tawelo asked.
He urged students not to wait until adulthood to make a difference. “Start now. Excel in your studies. Respect your culture. Embrace your languages. Be a leader in your classroom, on your sports field, and in your community. Be a light,” he said.
Tawelo also highlighted the pride and achievements of the school community. “This year is historic not only because of PNG’s Golden Jubilee but because Ramu Valley is stepping into its next chapter with its first Grade 12 graduates. It’s a moment for students, teachers, and families to reflect on hard work and the bright future ahead,” he added.
The school continues to inspire young people across Madang to pursue excellence while honoring their cultural heritage.
