Los Angeles have now played the Philadelphia Eagles four times since the start of the 2023 season. They haven’t won any of them. The last two, the playoff game and today’s loss have come in Philadelphia by narrow (and frustrating) margins. This is the most fair window gauge of the two franchises — but it is notable that the head to head history between the two is overwhelmingly in Philadelphia’s favor. Sean McVay’s Rams defeated Philadelphia in September of 2020 by a final score of 37-19. The Eagles finished that season 4-11-1. It stands as McVay’s only win against the Eagles as the head coach of the Rams, in addition to Los Angeles’ only head-to-head win against Philadelphia since December of 2004. Philadelphia is 10-1 against the Rams since. McVay is 1-6 against the Eagles as a head coach. And while it is absolutely true that matchups in 2008, 2011, 2014 and a number of other years have nothing to two with these two teams here in 2025, it is notable that this has been a team the Rams simply haven’t been able to close out.Sunday’s loss is likely the most spectacular of the losses. If these two teams have the kind of season everyone thinks they’re capable of having, it may not be the last time we see them square off this season. And so the Rams, amid yet another crushing loss at the hands of the Eagles, will look to rebound for the rest of the season and hope that another rematch affords them the answers to their Philadelphia problem over the past two decades. They can start by putting their interior field goal blocking under the microscope — that’d be a great place to start.
