The Los Angeles Rams are primed to get Puka Nacua back at practice this week, according to head coach Sean McVay. However, the Rams also placed Tutu Atwell on injured reserve, and they are turning to Tyler Scott to fill the roster void. Scott still has some hurdles to clear before that becomes a reality. Still, it is a noteworthy move for the Rams, snagging the former Chicago Bears wide receiver and third-round draft pick. Rams Sign Former Bears WR Tyler Scott to Practice Squad The Rams are signing Scott to their practice squad, announcing in a post on X on October 28 that they utilized an exception to bring him on. The Bears selected Scott with the No. 133 overall pick of the 2023 draft. A converted running back in college, Scott caught 17 passes for 168 yards for the Bears during his rookie season. He played in all 17 games for the Bears that season, starting four of them. However, Scott fell out of favor as the Bears retooled their WR room over the next two seasons. He caught his only target for 5 yards in 2024, when he appeared in 11 games, getting most of his playing time on special teams. Scott has spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and, more recently, one of the Rams’ NFC West rivals, the Seattle Seahawks. He joins a crowded group in LA, even with Atwell on IR. Tyler Scott Joins Crowded WR Room Davante Adams headlines the Rams’ WR room. However, it also includes youngsters Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield and veteran Xavier Smith. Scott joins a Rams practice squad that currently includes former undrafted free agents Brennan Presley and Tru Edwards. “Downtown Rams” host Jake Ellen Ellenbogen noted Scott’s speed, but does not believe it would necessarily keep the Rams from making another move at receiver. Scott can certainly help the Rams, though. “Really wouldn’t shock me to see the #Rams utilize Tyler Scott on special teams and have them start trying to upgrade the ST unit,” Ellenbogen posted on October 28. “It’s rated as the worst unit in the league.” Ellenbogen suggested Rams special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn is a bigger reason for their struggles in that area, but also suggested LA could be a trade fit for Cleveland Browns safety Rayshawn Jenkins for their third phase. Rams Urged to Explore Trade for Jaguars WR Brian Thomas If the Rams are looking to make a more significant splash, Turf Show Times’ Blaine Grisak suggested Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas Jr. This Heavy Sports Rams trade pitch would send a second-round pick to the Jaguars for Thomas before the deadline. Rams get: Brian Thomas Jr. Jaguars get: 2026 second-round draft pick “It’s exactly what the Rams need at wide receiver,” Grisak posted on X on October 28, along with a graphic highlighting some of Thomas’ advanced metrics. “Without Atwell, the Rams don’t have that guy that can threaten defenses with his speed. “If Les Snead takes a swing and Jags are legitimately listening to calls…” However, Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, a former Rams assistant under McVay, spoke strongly against the idea of moving the former first-round draft pick. That does not mean the Jaguars will not trade Thomas, a Pro Bowler as a rookie with a 114-1,647-11 career line. It could mean the asking price quickly gets too rich for a Rams team that boasts depth and is getting its star back in Nacua before the deadline.
