Doha, September 17 (QNA) – Qatar University (QU)’s College of Health Sciences (CHS) announced that the Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Sciences program, offered by the Department of Biomedical Sciences, has received full international accreditation from the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), UK.
The accreditation, awarded in July 2025, is valid for cohorts 2024-2028, marking a major milestone for health sciences education in Qatar.
This international recognition highlights the program’s commitment to excellence in biomedical education, research, and workforce development, affirming its compliance with global standards of practice.
The MSc in Biomedical Sciences at QU is the only program of its kind in the country. It was designed to meet Qatar’s growing healthcare and biomedical research needs, fully aligned with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. The program offers two specialized tracks – Advanced Clinical Practice and Biomedical Laboratory Management – These tracks equip graduates with cutting-edge scientific expertise, leadership skills, and hands-on research training, preparing them to excel in clinical, academic, and research settings.
Through strategic collaborations with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Sidra Medicine, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, the Ministry of Public Health, and other local and international partners, the program ensures that graduates contribute to advancing healthcare, management, and cutting-edge biomedical innovation in Qatar and beyond.
Prof. Hanan Abdul Rahim, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, commented on this milestone, saying, “Receiving international accreditation from the Institute of Biomedical Science is a proud milestone for our MSc in Biomedical Sciences program. It highlights the program’s scientific excellence and its role in advancing biomedical research and innovation in Qatar and beyond.”
This achievement places QU among a select group of institutions in the region with IBMS accreditation, reinforcing QU’s role as a leader in health sciences education and preparing highly skilled biomedical professionals to serve both Qatar and the global biomedical community. (QNA)
