Queen Camilla will not attend the funeral of the Duchess of Kent on Tuesday as she recovers from acute sinusitis, Buckingham Palace said.

The queen had been scheduled to join King Charles and other members of the royal family at Westminster Cathedral for the service honoring the duchess, who died Sept. 4 at age 92. Instead, Camilla is resting at Windsor Castle, where the upcoming state visit by U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will take place.

The American president and first lady are expected to arrive late Tuesday, with official engagements beginning Wednesday. Palace officials said Camilla hopes to be well enough to participate fully in the state visit.

A spokesperson said the queen’s “thoughts and prayers will be with the Duke of Kent and all the family.”
