Qualcomm (QCOM) Q4 FY25 earnings results beat revenue expectations, EPS hit by $6 billion tax charge

Qualcomm (QCOM) has reported its financial earnings for Q4 2025. The tech company did manage to beat Wall Street's revenue expectations, though its EPS was adversely affected by a massive tax charge. Qualcomm reported in with a quarterly revenue of $11.27 billion USD, which is higher than the $10.77 billion estimate from Wall Street analysts. However, Qualcomm's EPS was hit with a $6 billion tax charge. That means the EPS number comes in at $3.00/share, slightly above analyst and whisper figures, but once the tax charge is factored in, that EPS number becomes a $2.89/share loss. "Our business remains strong as demonstrated by record QCT revenues in fiscal 2025," Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon said in the Qualcomm Q4 2025 earnings report. "We delivered 18% year-over-year growth in total QCT non-Apple revenues, with combined fiscal year Automotive and IoT revenue growth of 27%. We are excited about our business momentum, the availability of our automated driving stack, and our expansion to data centers and advanced robotics." Qualcomm also acknowledges that the company has been affected by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This has resulted in the EPS loss noted earlier, even as the company's tax rate looks to remain where it has been in the past. "With the enactment of recent U.S. tax legislation in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, we now expect our effective tax rate to generally remain in the 13% to 14% range and anticipate lower cash tax payments in future periods," the quarterly earnings report notes. "However, this new tax legislation resulted in a non-cash $5.7 billion charge, or $5.29 per share, in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025 to establish a valuation allowance against our U.S. federal deferred tax assets, as we now expect to be subject to the U.S. corporate alternative minimum tax beginning in fiscal 2026. This charge was excluded from our Non-GAAP metrics but impacted our GAAP results." Qualcomm is touting various advancements across several sectors, including AI, gaming, and mobile performance. Among the hardware advancements cited are the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile CPU chip, the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme CPU chip, and the AI-enabled Snapdragon Ride Pilot Automated Driving System. Qualcomm hopes to show off more of its product line during January's Consumer Electronics Show. Qualcomm (QCOM) finished the Wednesday, November 5 trading day up $6.88/share, but is down more than $4.00/share in after hours trading.
