A 27-year-old Uthangarai man died soon after he was administered an injection by a quack here on Tuesday. The victim, Babu of Nadupatti panchayat in Uthangarai, was reportedly suffering from asthma. On Monday afternoon, he and his wife went to Murugan Medicals in Nadupatty run by Manoj (45), son of Murugan of Ettupatti village. Manoj administered an injection to Babu after which Babu and his wife went home. On reaching home, Babu collapsed. His wife called Manoj, who immediately arrived at Babu’s house, checked him and declared him dead. He was rounded up by the relatives, who alerted the police. The Singarapettai police sent Babu’s body for autopsy. Manoj was found out to be a quack and was arrested, and his medical shop sealed. The Joint Director of Health did not respond to calls from The Hindu.
