Qatar–Sweden Business Meet Explores Cooperation as Joint Business Council Agreement Signed

Doha, September 11 (QNA) – The Qatar Chamber hosted on Thursday a high-level business delegation from the Kingdom of Sweden, led by HE Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa.

The delegation included heads and representatives of more than 40 Swedish companies operating across various economic sectors.

The joint business meeting, held at the Chamber’s headquarters, was attended by HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Sayed, and HE Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al- Thani.

Also present at the meeting were HE Ambassador of Sweden to the State of Qatar Gautam Bhattacharyya; HE Ambassador of Qatar to Sweden Nadya bint Ahmad Al Sheebi; several members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors; and a large gathering of businessmen representing around 140 Qatari companies.

The discussions focused on cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the commercial and economic fields. They also addressed the investment climate and opportunities available in both countries, as well as the role of the private sector in stimulating mutual and joint investments and enhancing trade exchange.

HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, HE Benjamin Dousa, and HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish the Qatari–Swedish Joint Business Council.

The agreement was signed by HE Qatar Chamber’s Board Member Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad, and Vice President of the Business Sweden Sara Radu.

Speaking at the event, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani underscored the Chamber’s interest in developing cooperating, exchanging expertise and expanding investment opportunities available in both sides.

He also noted that Qatari-Swedish relations have seen significant growth over the past few years, particularly in sectors such as technology, innovation, renewable energy, and healthcare, stressing the Qatari private sector’s keenness to deepen cooperation with its Swedish counterpart through joint ventures and expertise exchange, with the aim of achieving sustainable economic development in both countries.

Sheikh Khalifa emphasized that the signing of the Qatari–Swedish Joint Business Council marks a pivotal step in enhancing cooperation, affirming that the Council will serve as a platform to bring together business leaders and companies from both nations, facilitate joint investments, and boost bilateral trade exchanges.

The QC Chairman further stated that Qatar is steadily advancing toward building a sustainable, knowledge-based economy, offering significant opportunities for Swedish companies to establish investments and forge strategic partnerships in the country.

He called on Swedish companies to invest in Qatar and collaborate with Qatari businesses, stressing that Qatar today stands as a leading hub for business and investment, supported by world-class infrastructure, an attractive investment climate, and progressive legislation that permits 100% foreign ownership in most economic sectors.

For his part, HE Dousa praised the significant progress being made in Qatar, noting that holding the business forum between business leaders from both countries reflects the shared commitment to expanding cooperative relations and exploring broader horizons.

He welcomed the signing of the agreement to establish the Qatari–Swedish Joint Business Council, emphasizing that it will strengthen collaboration between the private sectors, open new channels for investment and partnership, and contribute to building a more sustainable future.

He expressed his satisfaction with the growing momentum of investment relations between the two nations and the active presence of many Swedish companies in Qatar, particularly in health, digitalization, and technology sectors. He also highlighted the alignment between Sweden’s vision and Qatar National Vision 2030, which provides diverse opportunities for cooperation, trade development, and addressing shared challenges.

The Swedish Minister called on Qatari companies to invest in Swedish technology, noting that Sweden is among the world’s top-ranked countries in innovation.

For his part, HE Eng. Ali Al Misnad highlighted that Qatar and Sweden enjoy strong and rapidly growing commercial and economic ties. He noted that at the private sector level, there are abundant opportunities for partnership and collaboration between Qatari and Swedish companies, particularly in technology and innovation sectors.

He also emphasized the Qatar Chamber’s commitment to fostering new investments and business ventures between the private sectors of the two countries, noting that Qatar offers vast opportunities across all sectors, supported by world-class infrastructure, advanced legislation, and a highly attractive investment climate. These factors pave the way for enhanced cooperation between business leaders from both sides.

Al Misnad expressed optimism that the newly signed Qatari–Swedish Joint Business Council agreement will yield fruitful outcomes, further promoting cooperation and strengthening economic relations between Qatar and Sweden.

On his part, CEO of Business Sweden Jan Larsson stated that the Swedish delegation looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Qatari companies and investing in Qatar. He highlighted that Qatar National Vision 2030 provides numerous opportunities for collaboration with the Qatari private sector, particularly in sectors such as innovation, digitization, education, healthcare, industry, technology, renewable energy, and more.

Larsson emphasized that Swedish companies are recognized for their expertise and innovation and are eager to partner with Qatari firms on joint projects and mutual investments in various sectors, both in Qatar and Sweden. He noted that the visit aims to establish partnerships and sign

deals with Qatari counterparts, fostering mutual benefits for the economies of both friendly nations.

The business meet included presentations from both sides, featuring Invest Qatar, the Qatar Free Zones Authority, and Mwani Qatar, alongside leading Swedish companies. These presentations outlined investment opportunities and incentives, fostering greater cooperation and potential partnerships between the business communities of both countries. (QNA)
