Kuwait, October 29 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated Wednesday in the ministerial meetings of the 69th Committee for Trade Cooperation, the 55th Committee for Industrial Cooperation, and the 10th Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in the State of Kuwait.The Qatari delegation to the meetings was headed by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani.The meetings witnessed the participation of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Commerce and Industry of the GCC member states, as well as the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.Their Excellencies the Ministers of Commerce discussed a number of topics of mutual interest listed on the agenda and adopted appropriate resolutions.On the sidelines of the Trade Cooperation Committee meeting, a joint session was held between the GCC member states and the United Kingdom, attended by Their Excellencies the Ministers of Commerce of the GCC, the Secretary-General of the GCC, and from the British side, HE Member of Parliament andآ Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade Chris Bryant.During the joint session, both sides discussed topics of mutual interest aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in commercial fields, explored avenues for support and development, and discussed the finalization of the Free Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom.Furthermore, Their Excellencies the Ministers of Industry of the GCC discussed several agenda items, most notably the definition of the Gulf national product, the list of goods subject to collective protection, and the promotional plan for available industrial investment opportunities in member states. They also deliberated on various initiatives and proposals contributing to the development of the industrial sector in the GCC, reviewed the recommendations of the Committee of Industry Undersecretaries, and adopted the necessary decisions.Separately, Their Excellencies the Ministers of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs convened the 10th meeting to discuss recent developments in the work of the Standardization Organization, approve draft Gulf technical regulations, update the organizational structure of the Organization, and endorse its strategic plan (2026–2030). They also ratified the internal regulations of the Gulf Accreditation Center and took appropriate decisions on these matters. (QNA)
